MEET Dr. Lynda R. Colaizzi, D.M.D., M.Ed.

In an office known for smile transformations, Dr. Lynda Colaizzi never fails to put one on her clients’ faces. Dentistry is not only painless, but a pleasant experience for the patient and that is at the core of Dr. Colaizzi’s mission to change everything you think you know about a trip to the dentist. From the moment she steps into the reception room to greet patients, her focus is making them comfortable and happy.

“I never feel the need to escape the office because it’s such an immense pleasure to go there.”

The warmth and camaraderie of the Beautiful Smiles by Design team members extends to the patients they all genuinely love to serve. Dr. Colaizzi is on a personal mission to dispel the myth that a visit to the dentist is unpleasant. With respect to the intimacy of a dental visit, Dr. Colaizzi ensures that every client is at ease.

“It’s all about the patient and their comfort. I take their trust very seriously.”

Her long list of accomplishments includes:

• Graduated Cum Laude, University of Pittsburgh
• Masters in Education for Health Occupation Educators, University of Florida
• Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree, University of Florida
• University of Miami – Director, General Practice Residency Program (GPR)
• Coordinator, Community Dental Health Programs – University of Florida
• South Florida Dentists in Pursuit of Excellence
• Program Chairman, Greater Miami Dental Society
• Florida Academy of Dental Practice Administration
• Guardian Ad Litem

At the University of Florida, Dr. Colaizzi worked as a mentor for dental students going to Santo Domingo to volunteer dental services. The team did oral surgery for anyone who needed it, sometimes under a tree with a flashlight. “The way the people there presented themselves changed me more than the procedures that I performed, there was such a dignity about them that profoundly impacted me. I really felt the appreciation and it inspired me to travel and to study other cultures.” Dr. Colaizzi speaks conversational Spanish and French and remains deeply committed to those less fortunate in the community.

When not transforming smiles, Dr. Colaizzi enjoys tennis, reading, traveling and swimming. In all that she does, people always play the most important role. She’ll happily put down a book or a racket to have a conversation with someone. “The favorite part of my job is the conversations I have each day. I love having fifteen to twenty conversations a day with assistants, hygienists, patients and my colleagues.” Her love of people is one of the reasons that everyone leaves her presence wearing a beautiful smile.
