FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are some of the questions most commonly asked by patients who are new to our practice. If you have further questions about our practice, procedures, or products – from dental veneers to dental implants – please contact us today.

DO YOU PERFORM GENERAL DENTISTRY OR ONLY COSMETIC DENTISTRY?
At our practice we focus primarily on cosmetic dental procedures such as porcelain laminates and veneers, crowns, inlays and whitening procedures. We also perform a full range of general dental procedures such as cleanings, periodontal therapy, white fillings and implants. It is our practice philosophy that looking and feeling great and having healthy strong smile go hand in hand.

I WOULD LIKE TO IMPROVE MY SMILE BUT I AM AFRAID TO SEE THE DENTIST. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE ME FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE ABOUT SEEING THE DENTIST?
Beautiful Smiles by Design is committed to giving each patient a pain-free experience. Our office is especially cognizant of the fearful patient. Making your experience with us a truly calm and comfortable one is our priority. We understand that each patient’s experiences, both past and present are truly unique. A patient manner and gentle touch can be expected by all members of our team. In addition, we offer music, television, nitrous oxide gas, anti-anxiety medication and sedation dentistry to help our patients get the care they want and need.

ARE YOU MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER DENTISTS?

Our fees are comparable to similar cosmetic dentists that rank as one of the best. However, our fees are not necessarily higher and in many instances it may be lower. We feel price shopping for cosmetic dentistry can be disastrous. No two cosmetic dental offices are alike. The level of expertise, knowledge and technology can set one apart from the rest. Before making a decision on cosmetic dentistry we urge you to come and experience what makes us unique.

HOW IS A COSMETIC DENTIST DIFFERENT FROM A GENERAL DENTIST?
A cosmetic dentist has experience and special training which has taught them how to create a whole smile that is esthetically pleasing. A cosmetic dentist usually is a general dentist who has taken hundreds of hours of advanced training. This training specifically addresses the complex issues of tooth size, shape, position, color, and overall proportion to the patient’s facial shape. Skin color, eye color, gum tissue, lip contour, phonetics (speech), function – all must be taken into consideration at each step of the process. Cosmetic dentists study the art of facial appearance with the same intensity as a portrait artist or a sculptor. The general dentist without cosmetic training frequently solves a single tooth problem – one tooth at a time. The cosmetic dentist puts that one tooth in the context of the patient’s complete facial appearance. The cosmetic results when properly done should look natural – as if the teeth were untouched.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE MY COSMETIC TREATMENT?

Each situation is unique and every client has their own particular issues that have to be addressed. However, on the average, bleaching will take about 1 ½ hours; crown and bridge will take 2 visits to complete and veneers 2 visits to complete. In cases where 2 visits are required, such as veneers, custom temporaries are fabricated that will look better than the teeth you came in with and will be designed to actually look very close to the final porcelain veneers that will be made for you.
